Sometimes it can appear as though we have little
control over the things that happen to us, that life generally
has its way with us, and that we are powerless to prevent it.

But it doesnt have to be that way everything we need to control our destiny is within us (notice that DESTINY anagrams to SENT DIY, i.e. we have to do it ourselves). So much of our ongoing life is governed by how we think this is the one thing on which all great philosophers have agreed. And it is possible to change how we think it just needs practice, patience and perseverance. Creating our outcomes can be achieved by the simple power of projection. Remember the great saying: How many times have you thought you couldnt do it and have therefore proved yourself right? Well, likewise, how many times have you known you could do it, and have happily and surprisingly perhaps proved yourself right? So lets make sure this happens a lot and becomes part of our ongoing life. The way to begin this is to consider something that is going to happen soon perhaps a meeting, or a family occasion, or a business appointment. Consider how you want to be in this situation the kind of role you want to portray, the internal state you want to maintain, and what the desired outcome from this event would be. Concentrate gently on these aspects with no stress or impatience, just visualising it in your mind. Give the process the time it needs to get the visualisation clear as with most things, with practice this becomes easier and the process quicker. Once this clear in your mind, make a physical or mental note of the ingredients in this projection (perhaps writing it down in the T2C Diary Plan), and then continue with the day. Later in the day as the event approaches, reconnect to the visualisation you made earlier, and then go into the event confident in the knowledge that you are going to embody that visualisation. It is as though you are literally stepping to meet and move into the you that was created earlier. This simple yet effective technique can be used in all kinds of ways with great success. Lets suppose that we know were going to have a long day and will arrive home late its so easy to think Ill be really tired when I get home, and then assume that the long day has caused the tiredness. But what if its rather the fact that we expect to feel tired that causes us to feel tired, rather than the long day itself? This is the beginnings of building a truly self-determined life, rather than life being a collection of random circumstances in which we are often the victims. So give it a go youll be amazed at the results! © 2007. All rights reserved. close window |
